† November 19, 1999 Miami (FL)

Alexander Liberman uses industrial materials (steel beams, pipes, plates and barrels) in his works, which he reassembles in welded or stacked structures. This creates clear and imposing sculptures with geometric elements such as cylinders, circles and rectangles, which are then painted in uniform, bright colors. The mostly red coloring emphasizes both the mass and the lightness of his works.

The striking combination of industrial steel, geometric shapes and monumental dimensions makes Liberman’s abstract artworks highly recognizable. His works can be found in numerous public parks and galleries around the world; despite the heaviness and stability of the materials used, they often appear dynamic and at the same time radiate a calm strength.
