Montréal on the St. Lawrence River is Canada’s second largest city after Toronto and the largest city in the province of Québec. Heart of the city is Mont Royal, approximately 200 meters high, with its famous cross. A special feature of the city is the Ville Intérieure, the so-called underground city. It’s the world’s longest continuous system of pedestrian tunnels and shopping arcades, which also includes ten subway stations and two train stations. In the long and cold winters, pedestrians can move comfortably underground through downtown along a length of 32 kilometers.
