El Paso (TX)

While the other large cities are located in the east, El Paso, Texas‘ sixth largest city, is located in the far west of the huge state. Together with its Mexican sister city Ciudad Juárez, twice as large and only separated by the Rio Grande, it forms a mostly Spanish metropolitan area. While the city center is of little interest to tourists, the historic Spanish missions located just outside town are worth visiting as they are an important part of the Spanish-Mexican heritage. The influence of the Catholic Church is unmistakable here.
