Kissel, Hans-Michael

Germany

* December 29, 1942 Worms

Hans-Michael Kissel, who has always been fascinated by man’s deep longing to be able to fly, transforms this longing into movement. His kinetic sculptures are characterized by calm, swinging and floating movements that are reminiscent of the gentle gliding flight of a bird. Despite their considerable size, they appear weightless and light.

Kissel’s works take up a lot of space to develop their full effect, which is why they are usually found in public spaces. Although the movements of his objects seem self-determined, they follow the laws of mechanics alone. The artist has patented the delicate technology behind the weightless movements of his kinetic works of art.
