Seward Johnson designed life-size bronze statues that are casts of real people, depicting them in their everyday activities. The “master of the everyday” realistically shows the newspaper reader on a bench, the window cleaner at work, the guitar player in the pedestrian zone, the painter with his relay or the lovers in the grass, to name just a few examples. His magnificent works can be found in many cities across the United States; unfortunately, he is largely unknown in Europe.

In 1992, Johnson founded Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, one of the best sculpture parks in the United States. Here visitors will find around 300 contemporary sculptures, with the artist’s works taking center stage.
