It’s the star among Florida’s animals, at least in the national park – the alligator. There are around 200,000 of them in the swamps; 1.5 million are said to be in all of Florida. So be careful, there’s always one lying around somewhere…
The swampland in the south of the state is also the only region on earth that is home to both alligators and crocodiles. While the former avoid salt water, the larger and more aggressive crocodiles live near the coast.
